Whether in recital, chamber music or as a soloist with orchestra, her virtuosic and spirited performance leaves no one untouched.
Oksana Sinkova has studied at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in the class of Prof. Moshe Aron Epstein, obtained the MA degree cum laude and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. She has won 16 international competitions. She has performed various recitals in partnership with many instrumentalists and as a soloist with symphony orchestras in Estonia and abroad with great success.
Recent years have taken her to the Festival della Valle d’Itria and Festival Tra Lago e Monti in Italy, the festival Bratislava Chamber Guitar (Slovakia), the Nordic Historical Keyboard Festival and to many concert halls in the Czech Republic and Sweden. In 2014/2015 Oksana has continued to cooperate with the string orchersta Camerata Nordica, playing the Mercadante Flute Concerto and with Sinfonia Cymru (Wales, UK), touring in Estonia, Italy, Wales and Sweden.
Biography
Oksana Sinkova´s journey into music began at the age of 9. Since then music has been her passion and it has earned her 14 achievements at many competitions, among these First prize at the All-Soviet Union Competition “Young Virtuoso” (1991, Kiev), winner of the Estonian Yamaha Competition (1999), First prize in the Johann Sebastian Bach Competition of the Estonian Music Academy and Sibelius Academy, Finland (1998), Grand Prix in the Estonian Johann Sebastian Bach Competition (2000), 4th prize in the International Competition Pacem in Terris (2005, Bayreuth, Germany). In 2008 she won the First prize, Grand Prix and most of the special awards in the Estonian National Competition for Wind Interpreters and the same year she was awarded the PLMF award “Young Musician 2008”.
After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in 2002 and Master’s degree (cum laude) in 2006 from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT, class of N. Punder and Prof. M. Helin, Sibelius-Academy, Finland), she continued to pursue her PhD at the EAMT (2006-2011). From 2004 to 2005 she complemented her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in the class of Prof. M.A. Epstein. She has participated in the masterclasses of several well-known flutists (G. Blasco, G. Marcossi, B. Giesler, H. Starreveld, L. Ruoho, M. Helin, J.-C. Gerard, R. Greiss-Armin, P. Gallois, M. Järvi, P.-L. Graf, W. Bennett and J. Frank).
Oksana has worked in professional symphony orchestras in Estonia from 2000-2011 (mostly as Principal/Solo flutist), alongside pursuing her solo career and teaching (since 2008 at the EAMT). She also gives masterclasses herself and performs at numerous recitals and chamber music concerts with different ensembles in Estonia and abroad. Her recital repertoire includes many virtuoso violin pieces for flute.
