MARIA LISTRA is one of Estonia’s most outstanding artists, working as a vocal soloist and teacher. In her creative career, she combines various forms of musical theater and culture – from chamber music to musicals, from early music to contemporary opera.
Listra began her musical studies at Nõmme Music School, specializing in piano and flute. She graduated from Chigwell School in London (2008), which specializes in music, drama, and the arts, and from Royal Holloway, University of London (2011), earning a bachelor’s degree in drama and theater studies.
She has frequently performed with various ensembles in Estonia’s major concert halls and churches. Listra has collaborated with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO), Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Finnish-Estonian Baroque Orchestra, the Prezioso String Quartet, the Corelli Baroque Orchestra, and the Ensemble Voces Musicales. She has participated in numerous opera and musical theater projects, performing a diverse repertoire of chamber music and oratorios.
Her work with large-scale compositions has led to collaborations with conductors such as Tõnu Kaljuste, Risto Joost, Peter Spissky, Martin Sildos, Toomas Siitan, Kaspar Mänd, and others. Since 2013, Listra has been an active guest soloist at the Vanemuine Theatre.
A significant part of her work is dedicated to teaching, including her role at the Hanna-Liina Võsa Musical School since 2016. In addition, she has given masterclasses, lectures, seminars, and individual lessons on various cultural and musical topics. As part of school concerts, she has performed in schools across Estonia, presenting a program that introduces different genres of musical theater.
