KADI J\u00dcRGENS<\/b> is a mezzo-soprano who made her solo debut with the Belgian Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (OBV) this season. In the summer of 2021, she graduated from the highly acclaimed International Academy of Opera, part of the OBV, in Ghent, Belgium, and this year sings as a soloist both there and in her home country, including her debut in the title role in G. Bizet’s opera Carmen at the Vanemuine Theatre. K. K. J\u00fcrgens studied violin and flute at the Tallinn Music High School and classical singing at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School before continuing her studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA). K. In 2019\/2019, J\u00fcrgens spent the first semester of his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in Belgium. In 2021 K. In 2021, 2021, J\u00fcrgens sang in the finals of the 12th Klaudia Taevi Competition in Naples, Italy, where she won the third prize and the special prize for Estonian singing. In 2018, she was awarded the PLMF Marje and Kuldar Sink Young Singer Prize 2018. K. J\u00fcrgens has continued her studies with eminent opera singers and teachers (Wilma Vernocchi, Muriel Corradini, Dietrich Henschel, Charlotte Margiono, Lucienne Van Deyck, Hein Boterberg, Maciej Pikulski, Kristian Attila and others) both at home and in Italy, Great Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Lithuania. In 2015 she was awarded a Mati Palmi Foundation scholarship from Italy and in 2017 from Estonia to attend master classes with Wilma Vernocchi, a long-time La Scala soprano.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>K. J\u00fcrgens has created several opera roles at EMTA. G. Puccini’s Sister Angelica (2016), Mrs Grose – B. Britten’s The Turn of the Screw (2016), Dido – H. Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (2016) and Orlando – G. F. Handel’s Orlando (2018). He has completed roles at the Vanemuine Theatre (Andromache – M\u00e4rt-Matis Lill’s “Tulleminek”, 2017) and the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (Nancy – B. Britten’s “Albert Herring”, 2019). At the Flanders Opera Academy, Kadi made her debut in four operas in collaboration with OBV. A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni (2021) and Lotte Lenya – K. Weill’s LoveMusik (2021).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0K. <\/span>J\u00fcrgens has performed as a soloist with the Oulu and Flanders Symphony Orchestras (2018 and 2021) and has collaborated with several renowned conductors and directors (Yi-Chen Lin, Benjamin Haemhouts, Filip Rath\u00e9, Martijn Dendievel, Giorgio Proietti, Michiel Delanghe, Paul M\u00e4gi, Taavi Kull, Ingrid Roose, Guy Joosten, Tom Goossens, Stefaan Degand, Tom Creed, Stephan J\u00f6ris, Hermann Keckeis, Beno\u00eet De Leersnyder, Laura Kalle, Taago Tubin and others). His development as a singer has been greatly influenced by contemporary free improvisation and he has had songs written for him by renowned composers from both Estonia and Belgium. K. K. J\u00fcrgens is a PLMF Fellow of the Musicians’ Foundation.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n

HEIN BOTERBERG<\/b> is Artistic Director and Repertory Coach at the International Academy of Opera in Belgium, and a guest coach at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. In addition, he works as a freelance pianist, collaborating with outstanding singers. H. Boterberg began his piano studies at the Ghent Conservatoire. At the Royal Scottish Academy and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he specialised in accompanying singers. He is the recipient of the Geoffrey Parsons Young Talent Scholarship from the Royal College of Music, London. At La Monnaie Opera House in Brussels, he was assistant to renowned conductors A. Pappano and R. Balsadonna and worked on productions with acclaimed singers such as S. Graham, J. van Dam, J. Kaufmann, J. Calleja and others. He has also worked with singers at the Filharmonie, the Flemish Radio Choir, the Flemish Opera, Covent Garden, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and the Collegium Vocale in Ghent. H. Boterberg has given concerts in Europe, Asia and Australia, in halls such as the Wigmore Hall and the Purcelli Room in London, the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels and others with singers such as Christian Immler, Malin Christensson, Jonathan Lemalu and Sophie Karth\u00e4user. In 2006, she started the “Vocal Journey” concert series to mentor and offer performance opportunities to outstanding young singers from all over the world. She has been a co-director and pianist in masterclasses in the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Portugal and France, with teachers such as T. Allen, R. Bowman, E. Kirkby, A. Murray, L. Siew-Tuan, G. Johnson and D. Margaret Price. K. J\u00fcrgens and H. Boterberg started working together in 2020 in Belgium.<\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
