What is PLMF?<\/h2>

P<\/span>L<\/span>M<\/span>F<\/span> was inaugurated on February 7th, 2003 by soprano Pille Lill with the aim to support the development of talented professional musicians by organizing master classes, opportunities to perform and by introducing them internationally.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PLMF is a unique citizens\u2019 initiative phenomenon both in Estonia and internationally. We find a similar mission, to create preconditions for the development of the most promising solo music talents, in various foundations around the world, but none of them is committed to talents regardless of age. PLMF has set a goal to enter the lives of musicians when they need it the most, when various youth programs are already closing, i.e. at the age of 25-35. PLMF extends a helping hand both at home and abroad, in-service training, continuous consultation, acquisition of high-quality instruments, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

PLMF chamber concerts<\/b> are expected all year round in Estonia, both in larger cities and in many small settlements, mainly within the framework of the concert series \u201cMasters Academy\u201d and \u201cMusic of the Soul\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

For children and young people, the music will be delivered directly to school during a performance by the most outstanding soloists in Estonia. Concerts and cooperation projects take place abroad with partners.<\/span><\/p>\n

PLMF traditionally organizes four festivals – <\/span>Tallinn Chamber Music Festival<\/b> since 2005, <\/span>Tallinn Winter Festival<\/b> since 2006,<\/span> Eivere Piano Festival<\/b> since 2013 and <\/span>Virumaa Music Festival<\/b> since 2019. Since 2010, the <\/span>Rapla Church Music Festival <\/b>has been taking place under the artistic direction and leadership of PLMF. The festivals include various master classes \/ summer schools for young conductors, string players, vocalists and pianists. PLMF offers artistic guidance for the <\/span>Valga-Valka Seven Church Summer Music Festival<\/b> and has been the founder and organizer of the <\/span>V\u00e4ike-Maarja Music Festival<\/b> in 2009, within which the <\/span>Republican Vocalists’ Competition<\/b> (2103, 2015, 2017) has been held dedicated to the deceased tenor Vello J\u00fcrna.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the outputs to highlight young talents is the annual awards <\/span>“Young Singer, Musician, Composer or Conductor” <\/b>issued at the Tallinn Chamber Music Festival. Almost all previous laureates are well-known artists, including Oliver Kuusik, Helen Lokuta, Rene Soom, Priit Volmer, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny, Oksana Sinkova, Andreas Lend, Mihkel Poll, Risto Joost, P\u00e4rt Uusberg, Martin Karu and others. In 2020 the <\/span>competition \u201cVirumaa Young Musician\u201d <\/b>2020 took place for the first time between Virumaa music schools.<\/span><\/p>\n

The year 2017 offered the Musicians’ Foundation an outstanding new milestone: in October, the <\/span>PLMF Academia Nova Center <\/b>was opened, where professional musicians who have been cooperating with the PLMF for a long time can develop their teaching skills at the hobby school.<\/span><\/p>\n

The strength of PLMF is its <\/span>active international activities<\/b>. Various exchange and cooperation projects have been organized since 2008, read more https:\/\/www.plmf.ee\/en\/international-work\/<\/a>. In connection with the expansion of foreign activities, <\/span>PLMF Arts Management<\/b> www.artsplmf.com was established in 2013 with the aim of developing the representation\/presentation of artists outside Estonia. Under the Management, the planning of wider cooperation between the Nordic countries was started in 2011, and in 2013 the Nordic-Baltic Festivals Platform was established, read more <\/span>www.nordicbalticfestivals.org<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2006, PLMF has been paying attention to those in need in our society, and for this purpose we have created a charity initiative with the motto <\/span>\u201cOpen your eyes and open your heart\u201d<\/b>. The campaign takes place within the framework of the Tallinn Winter Festival and over the years the festival has raised money for the K\u00e4o Disabled Children’s Center to train music therapists and buy instruments, NGO Nirk to cover daily travel expenses, Saaremaa children for daily food transport, for the Tallinn Old Town Music School to provide more music education supported by support persons for children with special needs, for private music schools and SOS Children’s Village for the purchase of instruments for talented children, etc.<\/span><\/div>\n

Instruments Fund<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0“Instruments Fund”<\/strong>,\u00a0founded in 2012 within the PLMF Tallinn Winter Festival, aims to support\u00a0Estonian most promising musicians in purchasing professional and high-quality music instruments.<\/p>\n
